Complete Roofing Systems is a Nationwide Top 10 roofing and cladding company based in Warrington. As our blue-chip client base continues to grow, we are looking for a hard-working, ambitious Contract Manager to join our team.

Job Purpose

The Contracts Manager is responsible for the timely delivery of projects within budget whilst maintaining project margin.  Paramount to the role is to ensure the highest possible standards of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality of installation to ensure a defect-free, on-time handover to the client.

Key to the role is the relationship between the firm and its clients. The Contracts Manager is a key bridge to ensure that relations between the two parties are professional, effective and the firm’s reputation is maintained at all times. It also showcases the firm’s SHEQ capabilities as the conduit between office and site.

The Contracts Manager will promote team work at all times, with commitment to the provision of an efficient and effective service.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Planning

  • Plan projects to ensure they are programmed to a level of detail necessary for the site team to deliver the job without delays or financial issues
  • Ensure procurement (via the Purchasing Manager) and reconciliation of materials is carried out in accordance with company procedures to best value and to prevent delays
  • Ensure site team compliance with Company commercial policies and procedures
  • Attend tender handover meetings and deliver pre-start meetings to the site team
  • Ensure a commercial plan and end-of-life forecast is in place and monitored monthly for the successful commercial delivery of the project
  • Produce and analyse quality reports, updated costs and forecasts
  • Ensure correct commercial engagement of subcontractors including labour
  • Promptly and appropriately deal with CVI’s ensuring that the client has signed off prior to materials being ordered and work being commenced/changed to ensure no “at risk” sales
  • Work with the QS and Finance team to ensure applications for payment are timely and accurate
  • Ensure handovers and hand-backs to sales are appropriately completedEnsure weekly review of progress, budget resources and forward
  • planning are carried out
  • Attend internal and external meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actions
  • Ensure timely management of both temporary and permanent design to meet the requirements of each project
  • Identification, analysis and allocation of labour (including sign-off of timesheets)

Safety, Health, Quality & Environment

  • By example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in the promotion of HS&E procedures and best practices, ensuring compliance with company procedures and legal obligations
  • Writing RAMS to comply with the company management suite and all relevant legislation
  • Allocate HS&E responsibilities and duties for site personnel, check understanding and provide training as necessary (via Helpdesk and Officer Services Lead)
  • Maintain and manage construction sites and subcontractors, ensuring all subcontractors follow CRS procedures and processes
  • Work with the company’s external H&S advisors and auditors
  • Oversee and ensure that HSE and other legislative-related documents are kept up to date and undertake site inspections, ensuring that audits and reports are produced, liaising with the necessary parties and the Contracts Director
  • Ensure all activities are managed and take place in line with relevant legislation, to ensure the highest standards of safety of all employees at all times
  • Other ad hoc administrative tasks commensurate with the post (e.g. O&M manuals)

Quality

  • Defect-free installations
  • All manufacturer systems/installation instructions are adhered to
  • British Standards are followed at all times

Experience

  • More important than years of experience is cultural fit, attitude, work ethic and ability to work with varying types of people, from site to senior personnel on the client side.
  • Strong knowledge of roofing systems is a must, but there is no requirement to have knowledge of all disciplines. Jobs will be allocated based on expertise with relevant clients and disciplines and there will be job learning and manufacturer training where required.
  • You MUST be commercially aware and used to working to specific budgets and within a process-driven environment. CRS is a growing business and as such, process improvement and contributions to ongoing efficiency are imperative. You must be used to working with QS’s (both client and specialist sides) and have a strong knowledge of H&S practice in the industry.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Current SMSTS
  • Health & Safety qualification, preferably IOSH (Managing Safely or similar)
  • Other relevant tickets/qualifications
  • CSCS card
  • Professional reporting and communications
  • Self-skills are improved
